Detroit is also known as the motorcity due to the fact of the car industry there.  Also of course it's well known for the music with the Motown sound ! 

Berry Gordy built his empire on West Grand Blvd ,  A type of music that is loved all over the world with recording artists like  The Temptations , Smokey Robinson & The Miracles ,  Marvin Gaye , The Fourtops , The Supremes , Edwin Starr , Jimmy Ruffin , Martha Reeves & The Vandellas ,  Marv Johnson , The Elgin's ,  Kim Weston , The Contours ,  Plus many more great artists.

But it was not all about Motown That was making music in the City .  There was smaller labels like -  Golden World ,     Ric - Tic , Groovesville , Karen , Big Wheel ,  Mary Jane , Sport , Big Hit , Drew , Palmer , D -Town, Sidra ,            La - Beat. These are just a few. 

With Artist on these labels -  The Precisions , The Metros , Johnnie Mae Matthews , Duke Browner , Edward Hamilton  Pat Lewis , The Falcons , JJ Barnes , Steve Mancha , Cody Black , The Fabulous Peps ,The Holidays , Yvonne Vernee Plus other of great artists.

Lets not forget  the songwriters like - Ivy Jo Hunter, Micky Stevenson , Holland Dozier Holland , Who was working so hard on West Grand Blvd  in the small house  they called  " HITSVILLE  USA ".  Then across the city other writers Putting there credits  on 45s like - Jack Ashford ,  Mike Hanks , Popcorn Wylie , Dale Warren , Robert Bateman ,       Sonny Sanders ,  Fred Bridges .  Now with The Artists and Labels They needed The sound and they got that from   - Mike Terry ,  The Funk Brothers , Earl Van Dyke  Who all helped make the Detroit  Soulful Sound.

About me Then well  like so many soulies I love this music Especially From Detroit. I've Had the pleasure meeting some Wonderful Artists in my life time .   Well  what about this site ?  This site is for my pleasure and hobby and most of all Respect to all these artists who's music I love .
